Shopping Profile: Fashion Writer and Chic Mom Veronica Levy
Fashion writer and founder of Lombard and Fifth
Favorite designers / brands:
I am a huge lover of high fashion, Alexander McQueen being my inspiration to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for my degree in fashion design. I am endlessly inspired by classic designers like Oscar De La Renta and Carolina Herrera, as well as some new ones like Christian Siriano. Ultimately I look at these ‘dream’ pieces and shop similar looks with favorite brands like Tibi, Kate Spade, J Crew, Anthropologie and ASOS.
My job has me running from meeting to meeting all day, so while I would love to wear pencil skirts and stilettos, my daily uniform is usually skinny jeans with a Zara blazer and Tory Burch flats. Comfy and chic is my day to day wear motto.
Best designer item you got on a discount, and where:
I am a huge designer bargain hunter and have a lot of ‘go to’ places in San Francisco for some major retail therapy, one being Jeremy’s Department Store, where I scored Christian Louboutin thigh high boots for $350! They retail for over $2,000. (See the photo below)
As I’ve mentioned earlier, I am big on getting the most out of my shopping budget. I love designer pieces but very rarely pay retail. Before having kids, I could spend hours at a Neiman Marcus Last Call outlet hunting for that perfect pair of Manolos hiding on the bottom rack, or scour Fashionphile.com to see their latest Chanel additions. I also monitor big upcoming sales and sometimes pop into the store beforehand to scope out and try on favorite pieces, and order online once the sale goes live.
